      ونڈوز(Windows) میں اردو پڑھنے اور لکھنے کی بنیادی سہولت پہلے سے موجود ہوتی ہے۔ مزید اردو بہتر انداز میں پڑھنے کے لئے اردو فانٹ اور لکھنے کے لئے اردو کی بورڈ لے آؤٹ انسٹال کرنا ہوتا ہے۔ ونڈوز وسٹا اور ونڈوز سیون میں صرف یہی دو کام کرنے ہوتے ہیں جبکہ ونڈوز ایکس پی میں ان دونوں کے علاوہ ایک اضافی کام یعنی اردو ایکٹیو(Active) بھی کرنی ہوتی ہے۔ جس کے لئے ونڈوز ایکس پی کی سی ڈی کی ضرورت پڑتی ہے۔ یوں تو یہ سارے مراحل آسان ہیں، جو کہ ایک عام کمپیوٹر استعمال کرنے والا بھی نہایت آسانی سے کر سکتا ہے، لیکن ان مراحل کو مزید آسان بلکہ بہت ہی آسان بنانے کے لئے ”پاک اردو انسٹالر“ تیار کیا ہے۔ ”پاک اردو انسٹالر“ تینوں ونڈوز میں بغیر کسی سی ڈی کے سارے کام خودبخود کر دیتا ہے۔ جس سے کمپیوٹر اور انٹرنیٹ پر اردو بہتر انداز میں پڑھنے کے ساتھ ساتھ کسی بھی جگہ بالکل آسانی سے اردو لکھی جا سکتی ہے۔ 

آپ نے ”پاک اردو انسٹالر“ انسٹال کر لیا ہے یوں آپ کے کمپیوٹر پر اردو کی مکمل سپورٹ شامل ہو چکی ہے۔ کمپیوٹر اور انٹرنیٹ پر کسی بھی جگہ جہاں دوسری کوئی زبان لکھی جاتی ہے اب وہاں اردو بھی لکھی جا سکے گی۔ ای میل، چیٹ، انٹرنیٹ پر تلاش، کسی فائل یا فولڈر کا نام اور کسی ٹیکسٹ ایڈیٹر جیسے مائیکروسافٹ ورڈ وغیرہ میں بھی اردو لکھ سکتے ہیں۔ ”پاک اردو انسٹالر“ انسٹال ہونے اور کمپیوٹر ری سٹارٹ کرنے کے بعد Taskbar پر Language bar نظر آنا شروع ہو جاتی ہے۔ جیسا کہ نیچے والی تصاویر میں نظر آ رہی ہے۔ 

                             جس سافٹ ویئر میں اردو لکھنی ہو وہاں پر بائیں طرف کا Alt+Shift دبائیں تو آپ کا کمپیوٹر اس سافٹ ویئر میں اردو موڈ میں ہو جائے گا یعنی جب بھی کوئی Key دبائیں گے تو اردو لکھی جائے گی۔ اسی طرح کسی سافٹ ویئر کا موڈ انگلش میں تبدیل کرنے کے لئے دوبارہ بائیں طرف کا Alt+Shift دبائیں۔ جس سے دوبارہ انگلش موڈ ہو جائے گا۔ اس کے علاوہ لینگوئج بار پر کلک کر کے بھی موڈ تبدیل کیا جا سکتا ہے۔ اگر کسی سافٹ ویئر میں دیکھنا ہو کہ کمپیوٹر اس سافٹ ویئر میں کس موڈ پر ہے تو ٹاسک بار پر موجود لینگوئج بار دیکھیں۔ اگر لینگوئج بار میں ”UR“ لکھا ہو تو اس کا مطلب ہے کہ اردو موڈ پر ہے اور اسی طرح اگر ”EN“ لکھا ہو تو انگلش موڈ پر ہے۔ 
کی بورڈ کی کس Key کو دبانے سے اردو کا کونسا حرف لکھا جائے گا دیکھنے کے لئے یہاں کلک کریں۔
اگر آپ کسی ٹیکسٹ ایڈیٹر جیسے مائیکروسافٹ ورڈ وغیرہ میں اردو لکھنا چاہتے ہیں تو بائیں طرف کے Alt+Shift سے کمپیوٹر کا موڈ انگلش سے اردو کرنے کے ساتھ ساتھ دائیں طرف کے Ctrl+Shift سے تحریر کی سمت بھی دائیں سے بائیں(Right to Left) کر لیں۔ یوں اگر آپ اردو لکھتے ہوئے درمیان میں کوئی انگلش کا لفظ لکھیں گے تو آپ کو کوئی مشکل پیش نہیں آئے گی۔ اس کے علاوہ بہتر ہے کہ فانٹ والی فہرست میں سے اردو کا کوئی فانٹ جیسے جمیل نوری نستعلیق (Jameel Noori Nastaleeq) بھی منتخب کر لیں۔ 

عام طور پر اردو ویب سائیٹ اور دیگر جگہوں پر استعمال ہونے والے اردو کے تین فانٹ ”پاک اردو انسٹالر“ میں شامل کیے گئے ہیں۔ جن میں خوبصورت ”جمیل نوری نستعلیق“، کرلپ کا ”اردو ویب نسخ“ اور بی بی سی اردو کا ”اردو نسخ ایشیا ٹائیپ“ شامل ہیں۔ 
یاد رہے ایک وقت میں دو یا زیادہ زبانیں بھی شامل کی جا سکتی ہیں۔ دو سے زیادہ زبانیں ہونے کی صورت میں جب بائیں طرف کا Alt+Shift دبائیں گے تو موڈ ایک زبان سے دوسری اور پھر دبانے سے دوسری سے تیسری اور اسی طرح موڈ آخری زبان تک جائے گا اور پھر دبانے سے واپس پہلی پر آجائے گا۔
